Most Dong farmers work in the fields and hills all the year. They arrange their work according to the cycle of the four seasons. What they can exchange in the local market is the surplus of production. It takes a great deal of time for them to support their families and make clothes and food. They seldom have savings to spend in the market.

Kam

Chinese Bibliography of the Dong: References of about 50 Chinese books about the Dong nationality

Allegorical architecture of the Dong: For the narratives of Dong architecture are on the one hand made meaningful through collective rituals. On the other hand, such narratives are not fixed on their “shells”—the architecture. The renewal of their architecture is achieved, not through a complete reinvention of new forms, but by injecting new narratives into the old “shells.”
